Golf
Designed by Adrian Stiff and commissioned in 1991, Dainton Park has matured into an awsome test of golf. As with Stiff's other notable designs such as the Players Club and the Kendleshire courses near Bristol, he has created 18 different challenges, each one memorable for different reasons. Elevated tees and wide, inviting fairways following the natural undulating contours of the landscape will encourage you to let rip with the driver, but beware, manicured bunkers and water features as well as several patches of unkempt rough will to trap the wayward, while well protected greens require a supremely accurate short game to find the putting surface. With such an array of golf shots required you will need every club in your bag.
Initially the introduction of 20,000 young trees and numerous lakes and ponds gave the course definition, and over time each hole has developed it's own character. Stiff's 'railway sleeper' trademark is also evident, with over 1000 sleepers used during course construction, particularly around tees and greens. We have not forgotten about the wildlife either, with numerous bird and water fowel resident across the course, all adding to that elusive 'away from it all' feeling.
We welcome both members and visitors to play golf at Dainton Park. Feel free to book a round on-line, or simply call the pro shop for avaialble tee times. Green fees are listed on the Visitors' page.
